Oh Canada!

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

It is fitting that I share my heart cry on Canada Day. Those who know me appreciate the deep wail cry that God has put on my heart for our Canadian soldiers and their families.

A few years ago, God changed my heart through the lens of a camera while photographing a military parade. Moved to tears, I witnessed a young cadet talking to an elderly veteran. These two unknown heroes captured on film that day have forever changed my heart. In that instant, as I clicked the shutter, I realized how much I took peace for granted and how I took our Canadian Soldier for granted.

I cry out to God for these Canadian men and women who so courageously keep my homeland safe for my family.

My prayer is for healing for our heroes whose heart has been affected by the silent wounds of war. Please join me today in prayer for those who serve.

To all are Canadian soldiers; thank you for your service; thank you for your courage. I confess that I took you for granted. Thank you for your heart for Canada and for laying down your life for me, for my family and for all Canadians.

Lest we forget.

On this Canada Day, I am so grateful to the men and women of faith who left their homelands for a land in which they could worship freely and work together to build a strong and free Canada.

Lest we forget the values, principles and ethics that gave Canada its rich heritage and foundation upon which to base our lives, I urge families and volunteers to assist in the recording of the insights, wisdom and reflections of the seniors in our society.

While I realize that the legacy of ethics may be more or less valuable with individuals, whatever strength can be derived from the wisdom of our elders will have great value for the generations to come.

“Consider and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for skilful wailing women, that they may come.”

Canada - the name of the second-largest country in the world but having a much humbler origin; its history starts with the word ‘kanata’, which in Huron means ‘village’.

mother - woman who creates, originates, or founds something; the biggest or most significant example of its kind: the mother of all battles.

cry - to utter loudly, beg, beseech, to proclaim publicly, to weep

heartsong by mattie stepanek - "A heartsong doesn't have to be a song in your heart. It doesn't have to be talking about love and peace. It can just be your message. It can be your feeling. Some people might even call it a conscience, even though that's not really what it is. It's your message, what you feel like you need to do."

A MOTHER'S CRY AND SONG FOR THE NATION

My heart cries out.

I am a Canadian mother and daughter and my heart cries out for the fatherless generations of our great nation. My heartsong longs for authentic Christian community so that all may know the love of our Father through His Son in fellowship with the Spirit.

Our Heavenly Father cries out for mothers and fathers to arise for our sons and daughters and to stand for our great nation.

"Arise, cry out in the night, as the watches of the night begin; pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children…" Lamentation two nineteen

I pray that the mourning women come. Come as you are, wailing women so that our tears dribble together in lamentation that all may know the love of our Father. You do not need to give birth to have a mother's heart for our great nation.

The Village Crier

The Village Crier makes proclamations and announcements for his or her town or community.

They use the traditional opening word "OYEZ! [oh yeah!] which is a very old french term meaning "To Hearken" or "Hear YE!"

Criers attend functions or celebrations and ring their bell to get everyone's attention before reading a special announcement or proclamation from a scroll. Criers normally cry loudly and clearly so that all can hear.

Once having read the "Cry" or message in a suitable fashion to all assembled, the Crier traditionally finishes with the words "God Save The Queen" or "God Bless Canada!" whilst raising their hat.
